Biofix Beans Inoculant (100g) – Includes Free Gum Arabic Adhesive for Professional Seed Coating
Price: KES 1,350 (Includes 100g inoculant + 30g Gum Arabic adhesive)
Are your dry beans or kidney beans giving you poor yields? Do you apply expensive top-dressing fertilizers only to watch them wash away with the rain? Have you accepted low harvests as normal?
Stop accepting poor yields. Your beans have a secret superpower. They can capture nitrogen from the air. But they need help. They need specific rhizobium bacteria to form root nodules. Without these bacteria, your beans starve for nitrogen. You spend money on fertilizers. The plants stay yellow. The pods stay small.
Biofix Beans Inoculant (100g) solves this problem. It contains a highly concentrated powder of live rhizobium bacteria specifically formulated for common dry beans and kidney beans. When you coat your seeds with Biofix before planting, the bacteria attach to the emerging roots. They form nodules. They start pulling nitrogen from the air. Your plants grow faster, greener, and more productive.
Special Value Add: Every 100g pack of Biofix Beans Inoculant comes with a complimentary 30g sachet of Gum Arabic adhesive. This sticker ensures the inoculant powder sticks perfectly to your seeds. No waste. No uneven coverage. No need to buy a separate sticker. Professional-grade seed coating in every pack.
One 100g pack treats enough seed for one acre. The cost is KES 1,350. Compare this to the cost of CAN or Urea for a full season. You save thousands of shillings. Your soil stays healthier. Your bean yields increase significantly.
Get your Biofix Beans Inoculant (100g) kit for only KES 1,350. Order via the Virtual Agrovet platform or call our expert team at 0790509684 to maximize your bean harvest today.

Product Highlights
- Superior Yields Through Natural Nitrogen Fixation: The live rhizobium bacteria form healthy root nodules that convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form your beans can use. One acre of inoculated beans can fix 50 to 100 kilograms of nitrogen per season. Better nodulation means better nutrient uptake. Better nutrient uptake means more pods per plant and larger, healthier grains.
- Cost Savings on Nitrogen Fertilizers: Dry bean farmers spend thousands of shillings on CAN, Urea, and other top-dressing fertilizers every season. With Biofix inoculation, you can reduce or completely eliminate nitrogen fertilizer application. Apply only a starter dose of DAP or NPK at planting. Let the bacteria supply the rest. Your fertilizer budget goes directly to your pocket.
- All-in-One Kit with Free Gum Arabic Adhesive: Unlike other inoculants that require you to buy a sticker separately, Biofix Beans Inoculant comes with a complimentary 30g sachet of Gum Arabic. This natural adhesive ensures the bacteria powder sticks uniformly to every seed. No waste. No uneven coating. No guesswork. One pack. Everything you need.
- Crop Resilience for Drier Planting Seasons: Strong root systems access water from deeper soil layers. Inoculated bean plants develop more extensive root networks. Your crop survives dry spells better. You get consistent yields even when rains are unreliable. Faster emergence means your plants establish before weeds take over.
- Improved Grain Quality for Better Prices: Well-nodulated bean plants produce plump, uniform grains with excellent color. Local millers and traders prefer beans from healthy, well-fed plants. Your crop quality improves. Your prices improve. Your reputation as a quality producer grows.
- Safe and Easy to Use: Biofix contains no chemicals. It is harmless to humans, animals, and beneficial insects. The powder mixes easily with seeds using the included Gum Arabic sticker. The process takes only a few minutes per acre. No special equipment needed.
- Soil Health Benefits Long Term: Unlike chemical fertilizers that can acidify your soil over time, rhizobium bacteria improve soil biology. Each season you inoculate, the bacterial population in your soil grows. Your soil becomes more fertile year after year. Future bean crops need less inoculant because the bacteria persist in the soil.
- Cost Effective at KES 1,350 per Acre: One 100g pack treats one acre. At KES 1,350 including the free adhesive, this is one of the most affordable yield-boosting inputs you can buy. Compare this to a 50kg bag of CAN at KES 3,000 to KES 4,000. The inoculant costs less than half and delivers nitrogen all season long.
Why Dry Beans and Kidney Beans Need Inoculation
Many farmers do not realize that common dry beans and kidney beans are legumes. Like peas, cowpeas, and groundnuts, beans have a symbiotic relationship with rhizobium bacteria. The bacteria live in root nodules. Inside the nodules, they convert nitrogen gas from the air into ammonia. The plant uses this ammonia to make proteins and chlorophyll.
However, the specific strain of rhizobium that works best with dry beans is not present in all soils. If your field has not grown beans recently, the bacterial population may be very low or completely absent. Your plants struggle. They turn yellow. They grow slowly. You apply more nitrogen fertilizer, but beans are not efficient at using synthetic nitrogen. Much of it washes away or volatilizes.
Inoculation introduces a high concentration of the correct bacterial strain directly onto your seeds. The bacteria are waiting right where the roots will emerge. Colonization happens immediately. Nodules form early. Your bean plants never experience nitrogen stress. They grow vigorously from day one.
Step-by-Step Usage Guide for Biofix Beans Inoculant
Follow these steps exactly. The process is simple but requires attention to detail. The included Gum Arabic adhesive makes coating easy. Do not skip any step.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Before you start, collect everything you need.
- Biofix Beans Inoculant (100g pack)
- Complimentary Gum Arabic adhesive (30g sachet included in the pack)
- Dry bean or kidney bean seeds for one acre (approximately 15 to 25 kg depending on variety)
- Clean bucket or basin (plastic only, not metal)
- Clean, non-chlorinated water (room temperature)
- Measuring cup
- Gloves (optional but recommended)
- Clean sack or plastic sheet for drying
Do not use metal containers. Metal can kill the live bacteria. Use plastic or clay only.
Do not use chlorinated water. Chlorine kills the bacteria. Use borehole, well, or rain water. If you must use tap water, let it sit in an open container for 24 hours before use. This allows the chlorine to evaporate.
Step 2: Prepare the Gum Arabic Adhesive Solution
Your Biofix Beans Inoculant pack includes a 30g sachet of Gum Arabic. This is your sticker. It helps the inoculant powder stick to the seeds.
Open the 30g Gum Arabic sachet. Pour the contents into a clean container. Add 250 ml (one cup) of clean, room temperature water. Stir thoroughly until the Gum Arabic dissolves completely. The solution will become slightly thick and syrupy.
Let the solution sit for 5 minutes. This allows any undissolved particles to settle.
Note: Gum Arabic is a natural product. It is safe to handle. It will not harm your seeds or your soil. Do not use hot water. High temperatures kill the bacteria.
Step 3: Moisten the Seeds with the Adhesive
Place your bean seeds in the clean plastic bucket. Add the Gum Arabic solution little by little. Stir constantly with your hand or a clean stick. Add just enough adhesive to make every seed slightly damp. You should see a thin film of moisture on the seed coat but no pooling liquid at the bottom of the bucket.
For one acre of bean seeds (15 to 25 kg), you will use approximately 200 to 250 ml of the Gum Arabic solution. Do not over-wet the seeds. Too much moisture causes seeds to clump together and may cause rotting in the soil.
Step 4: Add the Biofix Inoculant Powder
Sprinkle the entire 100g pack of Biofix over the moistened seeds. Do not dump it all in one spot. Sprinkle evenly across the surface of the seeds.
Mix thoroughly. Use your gloved hand or a clean stick. Turn the seeds over and over until every seed is coated with a uniform layer of dark powder. The seeds should look evenly coated, not clumpy or patchy.
This coating process takes 2 to 3 minutes of continuous mixing. Do not rush. Uneven coating means uneven nodulation. Some plants will thrive. Others will struggle. Your yield will be inconsistent.
Step 5: Dry the Coated Seeds
Spread the coated seeds in a thin layer on a clean sack or plastic sheet. Do not use direct sunlight. Sunlight kills the live bacteria. Spread the seeds in a cool, shaded area. Under a tree. Inside a shed. In a well-ventilated room.
Allow the seeds to dry for 10 to 15 minutes. The coating should become dry to the touch but not completely hard. Seeds that are too wet will stick together during planting and may clog your planter. Seeds that are over-dried may have dead bacteria.
Step 6: Plant Immediately
This is the most important rule. Plant the inoculated bean seeds immediately. Do not store them overnight. Do not leave them in the bucket for hours. The bacteria are alive and need to reach the soil quickly.
If you cannot plant all the seeds immediately, keep them in the shade. Cover them with a moist sack to prevent drying. Plant within 4 hours of inoculation for best results. The survival rate of the bacteria drops significantly after 4 hours.
Step 7: Follow Good Agronomic Practices
Inoculation is not magic. It works best when combined with good farming practices.
- Plant at the correct depth. Bean seeds should be planted 3 to 5 cm deep. Do not bury them too deep.
- Plant at the correct spacing. Row spacing of 45 to 60 cm is ideal. Plant spacing of 10 to 15 cm within the row.
- Water adequately after planting. The bacteria need moisture to move from the seed coat to the emerging root.
- Apply a starter dose of DAP or NPK at planting. The young plant needs available phosphorus for root development. Use 50 to 100 kg per acre.
- Do not apply nitrogen fertilizer after planting. Unlike maize, beans do not need additional nitrogen once the bacteria are established. Extra nitrogen actually reduces nodulation.
- Control weeds. Weeds compete for water and nutrients, especially in the first 4 to 6 weeks.
Crucial Warnings for Success
Do not mix inoculated seeds with chemical fertilizers in the same container. The high salt concentration in chemical fertilizers kills the bacteria. Apply fertilizer separately. Place it in the planting furrow below the seeds or to the side.
Do not expose inoculated seeds to direct sunlight. The ultraviolet rays in sunlight kill the bacteria within minutes. Keep seeds in the shade at all times after inoculation.
Do not use hot water for the Gum Arabic solution. High temperatures kill the bacteria. Use room temperature water only.
Do not use chlorinated water. Chlorine kills the bacteria. Use borehole, well, or rain water. If you must use tap water, let it sit for 24 hours before use.
Do not store leftover inoculated seeds. Any seeds that are not planted within 4 hours should be discarded as planting material. The bacteria will die. Uninoculated seeds from the same batch can be stored normally.
Do not use inoculant that has expired. Check the manufacturing date on the pack. Biofix has a limited shelf life, especially in warm conditions. Store unopened packs in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Do not mix Biofix with chemical seed treatments. Fungicides and insecticides applied to seeds can kill the rhizobium bacteria. If you must use chemical seed treatments, apply them first. Let them dry completely. Then apply Biofix. Even then, some bacterial death may occur. For best results, avoid chemical seed treatments entirely.
Do not apply nitrogen fertilizer after planting. Unlike maize or other grasses, beans do not need additional nitrogen once the bacteria are established. Extra nitrogen actually signals the plant that it does not need to form nodules. The bacteria do not colonize. You lose the benefit of inoculation.
How Biofix Beans Inoculant Compares to Chemical Fertilizers
| Feature | Biofix Beans Inoculant | CAN or Urea Fertilizer |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per acre | KES 1,350 (includes adhesive) | KES 3,000 to KES 8,000 |
| Nitrogen source | Free from the air | Manufactured, energy-intensive |
| Application timing | Once at planting | Multiple times per season |
| Risk of leaching | None | High (rain washes nitrogen away) |
| Soil health impact | Improves soil biology long term | Can acidify soil over time |
| Grain yield increase | 20 to 40 percent | 10 to 20 percent (when used alone) |
| Nodulation | Abundant pink nodules | Few or no nodules |
| Sustainability | Improves every season | Depletes soil over time |
The two products work best together. Apply a small starter dose of DAP or NPK at planting for phosphorus. Let Biofix supply the nitrogen. This combination gives you the best of both worlds.
Storage and Handling Instructions
Unopened packs: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ideal temperature is below 25 degrees Celsius. Do not store near chemicals, fertilizers, or strong-smelling products. The bacteria are alive and sensitive to their environment. An unopened pack stored correctly will remain viable for 6 to 12 months.
Opened packs: Use the entire pack at once. Do not try to save half a pack for later. Once opened, the bacteria are exposed to air and will die within a few days. Plan your planting so you use the whole 100g pack on one acre.
Transport: When collecting your Biofix from the agrovet or receiving delivery, keep it out of the sun. Do not leave it in a hot car. Transport in a cool box if possible. The 30g Gum Arabic adhesive is stable and does not require special handling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use Biofix Beans Inoculant on other legumes like cowpeas or green grams?
Biofix Beans is specifically formulated for common dry beans and kidney beans. For cowpeas, green grams, or other legumes, ask us about our range of crop-specific inoculants.
Q: How long does the 100g pack last once opened?
Use the entire pack immediately after opening. The bacteria begin to die as soon as they are exposed to air. Do not try to use half a pack now and half later. The included Gum Arabic adhesive can be stored after opening, but the inoculant cannot.
Q: The pack includes 30g of Gum Arabic. Is this enough for one acre of bean seeds?
Yes. The 30g Gum Arabic sachet is specifically measured for use with the 100g Biofix inoculant on one acre of bean seeds. Mix the entire 30g with 250 ml of water as directed. This will produce enough adhesive for 15 to 25 kg of bean seeds.
Q: Can I mix Biofix with fungicides or insecticides?
Do not mix Biofix directly with chemical pesticides. Many pesticides kill the bacteria. Apply pesticides separately. If you must treat seeds with fungicide, apply the fungicide first. Let it dry completely. Then apply the Biofix inoculant. The fungicide may still reduce bacterial survival, so this is not ideal.
Q: Will Biofix work in dry conditions?
The bacteria need moisture to move from the seed to the root. If your soil is very dry at planting, the bacteria may not reach the roots. Water adequately after planting. If you are planting during a dry spell, irrigate immediately after planting to activate the bacteria. The deeper root systems from inoculated plants will help them survive later dry periods.
Q: How soon will I see results from Biofix inoculation?
You will see healthier, greener plants within 2 to 3 weeks of emergence. At 3 to 4 weeks, you can dig up a plant and examine the roots. You should see pink or red nodules attached to the roots. The pink color indicates active nitrogen fixation.
Q: Can I use Biofix on organic farms?
Yes. Biofix contains only natural, live bacteria. It is approved for use in organic farming systems. No synthetic chemicals are involved. The Gum Arabic adhesive is also a natural product derived from acacia trees.
Q: How much can I save by using Biofix instead of CAN fertilizer?
A 50kg bag of CAN costs KES 3,000 to KES 4,000. A typical bean farmer applies at least one bag per acre. Biofix costs KES 1,350 per acre and eliminates the need for CAN. You save KES 1,650 to KES 2,650 per acre immediately. Add the yield increase of 20 to 40 percent, and your total benefit is even larger.
